Upwork rent - is it scam?

Does anyone here have experience working with people renting your Upwork account for 20-30% share?

Always stumbled upon threads like this from time to time

I can only guess its a general scam, but in case it is not, kindly share your experience

You must be careful about who you are dealing with, prioritize reputable members and create a long term partnership
For example, there are always some new accounts offering partnerships and this is suspicious to say the least


But if you find trustworthy people to do that, it can work...there are people who have been banned from Upwork in the past, or because of their nationality or even because they just want to have a solid profile with previous reviews...these people want to have access to a profile and you can make money partnering with them

Account holders probably need to be a thousand percent more careful than people looking to rent the account.
 
Really bad idea.

Sharing accounts that contain your personal information is always a stupid move on one's part.

I would not do that sort of things nor would I suggest anyone to do so as that is usually pretty risky.

Pretty much the same shit as those sharing their PayPal/Stripe accounts.
 
Just create a stealth account and rent it
Did you guys start yesterday? Obviously you don't need to rent your main account with your personal data
 
naah no good, many things that could go wrong and because of the privacy of your information, I got the idea of sharing accounts, but now many things that could go wrong.

I've been banned as well for telling the TRUTH about what's going on in the world. That's what all of these companies do now. Even prior to that they were shadow banning my hiring ads. I knew it b/c I wasn't getting as many applicants. Then I got more proof from a guy on Reddit that he did a test & they were shadow banning his hiring ads too & he's not even a Truther like myself.

Upwork is a VERY evil corp & pretty much monopolizes the entire freelance job space. I've been hiring freelancers since 2004 & have been with them since before they were called Upwork. Everything went to hell in 2023.

I'm the one who hires freelancers & since I lost my account I haven't been able to find ANY freelancers to hire. sigh

Every other terrible freelance site is NOW demanding you only communicate with the freelancer on their site & I refuse to be controlled like that. I use Telegram, Wrike & Zoho to run my business & non profit. So long as I pay & they get their commission that should be all that matters, BUT they want the AI to track everything, that's why.

So LMK please, altough I only want the freelancers from there. I will NOT pay their huge contract fee that they started in 2023. It went from $3 upto $10 & who knows what it's at now.

They are trying to get rid of ALL micro, small & non profit companies. That much is clear.

They never had a contract fee before, only the 5% from what I pay the freelancers & then they started charging a payment fee, but that was minuscule.

90% of them are scams. They will use your account to commit fraud, which will cause your account to be blocked.
 
Never do that, just ask yourself why would someone do that

I just found out you can't communicate with anyone once you've hired them here, so no, that won't work for me. I'm not going to be held hostage to anyone's site or forum with my own staffers, but thanks for the recommendation.
 
It actually happened to me with a user from here. We went to talk on Telegram, and he practically offered me 20% of the profits and $100 for the first week. Then, to do it, he asked me to share my Upwork credentials and give him access to my PC so he could 'work' on it. From a distance, it sounds like a scam to me, and be careful, it's not just about information theft on the PC. Be very careful with that
 
There is no reason which can be regarded as scam.
In the renting, you can prevent scam by using of payment. All upwork payment is took place through your payoneer. that's why, there is nothing which you can lose.
After the client earned, plz don't scam about him.

This is needed credit. Both of two, trust each other.
Then, you can get money with him.

I'm having the same, now I'm earning by renting Upwork accounts. Your offer is much better than mine.
I only recieved $150 per month, and PC's are provided by my users.
Now I'm a small time broker providing a verified Upwork account to my renters.
All I can say is this is Legit since I can see all the works and their account transactions, and I know all the passwords
of all the accounts I provided to them. So it's safe, I also able to build to good relationship with with Renters.
Anyway please be careful, still there are some people who are scammers and pretend to be legit like them.
