Upwork Client wants "test"

A client from Upwork, seems like he's looking for to hire someone fulltime.
He wants me to complete a "small test". I showed him some of my work, he says he likes it.
He's looking for someone to create landing pages and funnels full time.
He's asking me to do a "small test"
What can I expect, is this normal?

Don't even waste your time on that platform.
Only companies who can't afford proper freelancers go there, it's not worth the effort & your time.
Neither is your client.

Not true
I have a lot of experience with Upwork and all of it successful, which I can't say about other platforms.

OP

You can do a test, though, the client should pay for it, otherwise, you risk to give him a free landing page.

If he's paying for the test, then you know he's serious. If he wants a freebie, you know he's going to take advantage of you. People in the second category just play on greed by dangling a carrot.

Do not agree for something which can be done for free. IF he is expecting you to work without paying for a test he might probably think that you could go for cheap and bargain with a proposal.

As Jazz said be cautious and make your move!

i have heard both and good.

see the person's review by other people who were hired previously.

if he/she (like me - see image) has good reviews it should not be an issue.

However, do it at your own risk everybody is not the same. there is no guarantee. maybe, you can ask him to open the contract and deposit a weeks pay in advance.

Maybe just ask, will you get a salary for your work or for part of it? It is better to ask before starting work than after finishing it.

If it's a paid test assignment, then go for it. Either way, you can't lose anything. If the client isn't willing to pay, ask what he considers as a "small assignment". Not everyone on Upwork is looking for freebies, but you still need to be alert.

Only can emphasize on what the guys before me told you. If he's going to pay you for the test go ahead and do it.

Otherwise, don't even bother wasting your time.

-Not Ready to Pay but has stellar reviews

In any case, if you decide to do the test work, give your best shot (as if someone is paying you twice for it)

Besides - someone who want's a 'test' is most likely cheap as fuck.
