Hey,

So, I have been trying to get clients on UpWork for the last 3 months. I got 3 contracts and earned +$200 so far.

A week ago and without further notice, UpWork sent me an e-mail stating that my account is suspended due to high number of bids (I really don't bid much. And most bid projects end up not hiring anyone) with no sufficient contracts or earnings.

People say it's useless to contact them. But anyway, I will email them today/tomorrow to appeal their decision.
What do you think I should write?

Note: My main client there had just released more money, which made my UpWork earnings almost tripled.

We are contacting you to let you know we have suspended your access to Upwork indefinitely.

Our decision is based on a careful review and the fact that you have submitted a high number of proposals for jobs on our site without many contracts or earnings. Unfortunately, this means the jobs posted by clients are not a good match for your skills.

I know this news is likely disappointing to you. But our goal at Upwork is to enable freelancers to successfully connect and collaborate with clients who need their skills and expertise. Unfortunately, this means we must part ways with freelancers whose skills are not in demand in our marketplace.

If you want to appeal this decision, you can email us at [email protected]. Please note each case will be manually reviewed by our Trust & Safety team to decide if your account can be reinstated.

Please know we don’t make decisions like these lightly and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have experience as an UpWork vendor/worker but I have plenty of experience as someone that is a buyer on UpWork. My best guess is that you're using a generic response to people and that got you ignored by buyers and flagged by the UpWork system or maybe you were much more expensive than the others or had much less experience. There are many reasons why someone wouldn't pick you. I didn't realize that if you did that consistently that they'd actually suspend the account.

I do know several people that have worked for me that have been banned on UpWork and they just create a new account with a new name.

Upwork is bad, bad place for freelancers trying to make some decent money.. Did you use your real name?

I'm so sorry but this is hilarious. And sad at the same time, of course.
UpWork sucks then. Bad. They really need to change things up if they wanna survive.

Well, there are MANY reasons most clients did not hire me, but writing a generic response is not one of them!

I will check with UW, and update here.

Well, probably it is for newbies/starters. But, one has to start somewhere.
Yes, I used my real name.

My say is they're surviving, and doing well in fact. However, I think this kind of suspension should come as a notification first.
