I have a website that was meant for a different project but the players involved are afk. Is there a way for me to monetise is?

What's the current business model of your site? is it SaaS, Ads, Dropshipping...etc?

Based on this, you might be able to revive it - it'll take some time

Depending on your business model, it is very likely that you can monetize. Just analyze which monetization method applies best to your website.

Thank you guys for your responses which gave me a bit of insight. I should tell you the the site was originally for a landscaping company.

Are they still doing landscaping? Not a lot to go on but just some simple communication can go a long way.
If they aren't, maybe try to convince them to hand off the business to someone else.

There is always a need for landscapers especially if your prices are better than your competitors.
I had to get a new lawn guy this year because the one I had decided to raise his prices by 80%.
I called a bunch of people before I found a guy who was cheaper than what I was paying before.
Now I just need to find a good landscaping shrub expert. It's always something!

So, you’re saying that you have a website that you intended for another project, and the people involved in the development are unavailable.

Is the website complete, at least? That’s really the one million dollar question!

Because if the website is complete or, better yet, pulling organic traffic from search engines, then you can start monetizing it.

But if it’s still in development or it’s somehow incomplete, I don't see how you can monetize it if there's no traffic.

Maybe it has salvage value if the domain is any good; or maybe the existing content might be pretty solid.

So, I guess the answer to your question truly depends on just how far along you are in developing your website.
