For my web design company, I had a Google Place Page setup. I did the basic optimization, and was ranked 1st in places.

My company name is "My City Web Design."

I changed the phone number a few months ago and my listing got removed from the ranking. I can still go to the page with the direct link, but I'm not in the top 100 place page results. I ended up changing the number back, but still no luck.

I was told to wait a few months, but haven't seen any changes. Has anyone run into this and found a way around it, or a way to get back in?

    Thanks. ~englandrm

Did you build backlinks to your site that has an anchor of "My City Web Design."?

The only optimization I did was getting citations from other directories like Yelp, YP, etc, and having a few reviews posted. Everything was filled out on page including images and videos.

It specifically happened within 24 hours of changing my phone number.

your contact info (phone number) needs to match across your citations. I could see how changing your number could hurt.

Had this happen this is what was done and it squared things away in about ten days. no rhyme or reason to it but it worked. update all of your citations, update your website, update your places page, ping your citation listings, rearrange your categories in places page, wait a day or two then arrange categories back to what you had them previously. Give it a try a post your results.
