UNIQUE (!) Content...

I think people have the wrong "attitude" when it comes to unique content.

For a start, going on Google and look for "unique" content doesn't make sense at all.

Then people use those stupid rewriters which dont do anything else than out your visitors off because they produce nonsense content.

ASK YOURSELF:

How long do you spend on a website yourself if you see that it has re-hashed, nonsense content produced by some rewriter program?

Then there is those "scam scripts" which claim to magically produce unique content of your EZA articles....etc..etc...

What most people dont get:

There ARE ways to get REAL unique content to your site or blog. UNIQUE content means content which is NOT indexed in any search engine. Content which google never saw before.

I just recently started doing some research, but i can tell you so far:

* Mailing Lists <-----------

* Newsletters <-----------

Like Yahoo Groups, free mailing lists, ezines, newsletter

You can sign up with those, there are directories with lists of mailing lists in regards to ANY subject thinkable.

If you sign up you get a ****load of mailings to your email. All unique content.

The simplest way is, just go to your inbox (make some new acc on gmail since you will get LOTS of spam also!) and copy whatever mailing to your blog.

The "better" way is using some advanced techniques or scripts to grab your mailings from your inbox (if needed, filter them. Some, like yahoo groups contain a lot of garbage, ads, links)....and then auto-post them to your blog(s).

What i am saying: Don't even go to a search engine, and forget anything especially on Google. Google indexes EVERYTHING right now, including PDFs, books, documents, Groups. If its indexed, its a DUPE.

It doesnt matter whether it is from some archive from 1980 (i looked into this option also).

So...its just logical to check sources where you get content to your mail like newsletters and lists...and use this as unique content!

This is a great idea. Some mailing lists also publish online but there are loads that don't. Thanks for sharing, this is gonna help a bunch of people.

There is a way around dupe which is not mentioned much on this forum and that is mashing content. How many download sites are indexed (100's). Do any of them have uniques, no. They all mash up their content.

I think that is a cheaper way to go, than go after article uniques. Just cut them into snippets, get different sources (by massive db's for $10 on DP) and mash'em up.

This area confused the hell out of me, I have a site which ranks well, I can copy an article from the BBC news website, change the header and rank no2 in Google for exactly the same article when there are 100 of other copies out there, not sure how this is happening does anybody have an opinion?

Google allows a few of the same to show, I think (if there is not much competition). So your page not being 100% the same (having some other stuff on it), google says ok I am going to show it for that long tail (but maybe not for a shorter tail).

My 2 cents. The key point for you is to look at your logs and see if it shows for real traffic terms, or just for the long tail that you tested for (and which would not give you traffic?).

forget "mash-ups"... i did some tests. Google is NOT that stupid. It looks like google sees the text "as a whole"...and in my tests it didn't really do a lot just to re-arrange paragraphs, they were still considered dupes.

I am a big fan of duplicate and crappy content. It works well if it is used the right way.

One thing I have found is that if you have an aged domain, it is easier to rank with dupe content than it is with a brand new site with completely duped content. Remember, I just said easier, not impossible.

haze, I did not mean to rearrange the text. Would you share your experience/results. I meant take a smaller snippet of one article/thread/whatever, and add snippets from related articles/threads, then add something else (ebay/amazon/shopping?) and something else...

This is adding value for a user, and although all the items could be douped ,the adding of them in certain way and meshing them together is OK.

This is actually quite white hat, if done right, and IMHO google will let you go if you build enough backlinks and reputation.

Yes, good backlinks. I am running SEO Elite's authority report (thought of it after viewing Howie's video). It shows me the top listings for any keywords, and where they got their links from. Very eye opening. From what I can see, you may be able to pick 10-12 sites to post something to, and rank quite high (and do a few directories, just for the heck of it).

Howie said run this kind of report for "buy vi*agra".. because those are highly competitive terms, and the marketeers are the most agressive (and knowledgable) That is the first report I am running.

oh, i see what you mean. Actually i have some russian script somewhere on my HD which does this, it mashes up scraped content from G news, blogs and yahoo.

problem is, its not really THAT different from using a rewriter...now in terms of "usability" for a site visitor. You might get a bunch of excerpts, from different resources...but not really content which makes people stay on your site for long.

That being said, let me check my gmail account where i signed up for all those lists.

Is it legal to copy someone else newsletter content? What if the newsletter owner see your blog/site and realize that you use his content?

@otto14 - it is legit under 'fair use' to use an excerpt of someone's content, as long as it is duly referenced.

Basically if you figure out a tight niche, and then bring all the resources into it from everywhere, you are doing a great service to users in that niche, since they don't have to go all over the place. So you are adding value. The hope is that google (the engine) and google (the manual reviewer) will see it that way too. From user standpoint, page views per user should go up, and if one has an aweber, then you can get repeat visitors.

Aiyo...then dont do online marketing...

Go for offline marketing and stop worrying about dupe content....lol..
