What do the instagram analytics actually mean? I have attached a screenshot of analytics from one of my own posts to illustrate my own experiences and what I assume to be the case based on that.
Before I say anything I should mention I'm not using engagement groups or anything like that, so everything on these analytics is organic.
These analytics are for a 10k follower account with high quality original content.
Likes, comments and favourites are obvious, and impressions and reach are also well explained in the app.
Profile visits is the number of people that clicked on your profile from the post (suspiciously low I think).
Follows I think also doesn't seem to accurately record the number of follows a post actually generates, as 5 seems extremely low for an 8,560 reach and I am quite sure this post generated more as I manually track how posts are doing.
All my posts seem to have this low recorded follow conversion rate, does anyone else have a much higher ratio than this?
Impressions:
From home - when people see it in their newsfeed
From profile - when people scroll through your profile and see the post (this should be higher on older posts that are seen when traffic is directed to your profile by new posts)
From hashtags - self explanatory
From other - the most poorly understood part of impressions: Does anybody know what this actually covers? Does this indicate explore page exposure?
I have occasionally seen explore page exposure listed separately on a recent post but it eventually seems to get swallowed up under 'from other'.
I also believe 'from other' must be explore page exposure based on its correlation to the percentage of accounts reached that weren't following you (higher 'from other' = higher % of non-followers reached).
Additionally, even well chosen, well-researched groups of hashtags seem quite worthless now, and only account for a fraction of my reach. Does anyone have any new, interesting and useful advice based on actual results?
I find it hard to believe anyone is scoring high hashtag reach nowadays, unless you're running a larger 100k+ or million follower accounts, in which case the advice is not applicable to those of us running smaller accounts.
Please correct me on anything I'm wrong about on this post -- most of this is just guess work as everything is so poorly explained by insta.
