Hostgator - allows adult themed, will suspend your site real fast if you go over a certain % of resource spending. If youre doing mini sites, depending on how many, you will see it always at a constant .5%>. If you have a high traffic site with thousands of visitors, they will suspend your site and you'll have to upgrade to VPS.
Bluehost - Based in Utah, mormon state. No adult themed whatsoever, will cut your site down with no warning.
Both are decent, but based on more lax tos, I stuck with HG. Both Ive raninto do not have a uptime of 99.9%, I just had a problem for 30sec downtime on my HG account.
Hostgator is a reseller of theplanet, just fyi. All the BS with unlimited space/data etc... is just a marketing ploy, its what it is, bullshit. Both companies will suspend you if youre using up all their resources. As long as youre not getting 10k/day visits on a MU-WP with 100 plugins, you should be fine.
If you're willing to take a gamble, get a free .com at 1and1.com (1and1 are notorious for trying to con you when youre trying to transfer domains) and then get the 1cent hostgator package or the reseller. Update your nameservers. I never ever have the hosting company control my domains. Or the domain company control any hosting incase one gets taken down or banned I can just move it. Never put all eggs in one basket.
