Un-confuse the Newbies

There's a big conglomeration of information on this forum. Unfortunately, for most newbies, it's overwhelming. Do this, do that, but don't do this. Download this, download that. This works, this doesn't. The information people need to make money is probably all here, but it's so widely dispersed in different posts that it's hard to really formulate a plan of action.

I know there are a lot of smart people that are members of this forum and they have an impressive amount of experience. They're making money, sometimes thousands and thousands of dollars a month. Certainly, I can understand if they want to protect their income by not divulging what they're doing.

Can any of you veterans find it within your heart to enlighten us newbies?

Perhaps you could post an understandable, step-by-step procedure for getting started. Assume that newbies have the basic knowledge about building web pages, signing up for affiliate programs and all of that basic stuff. What steps should they take, based upon your experience, to start making money?
