UN.CO.VER gone for good?

I downloaded Textbrokers Unique Content Verifier (UN.CO.VER) about a month back and it was working fine, but now no matter what text I enter (including very obvious plagiarized texts) it says that it finds 0 percent matches. I thought it was a problem with my program so I was going to uninstall and reinstall it but I can no longer find it on their website. Using the cached links brings me back to a generic textbroker web page. Is it still working for anyone else?

I've been noticing the same thing for the last few days. Highly unfortunate as it was an excellent tool. I wonder if it has something to to do with the Yahoo API service going down.
 
Oh I didn't even know that Yahoo API was down. Maybe. Yeah it was pretty good and one of the few tools that I could use with my Mac. Besides the online ones, I guess I'm stuck to my PC for now. I hope they bring it back.
 
I just noticed this today too. Man, that sucks... I really liked that little program. Maybe this opened up the market for a new bot?? :D
 
Hi.. can you share the link of the bot? I spend a lot of moeny on plagiarism checks... would be of great use.
 
Well I've been researching the free ones and I signed up for a copyscape. I tested percentdupe.com, duplichecker.com and copyscape. Duplichecker performed the best out of all of them. It even shows the sentence from the copied website compared to yours. Copyscape did not show nearly as much results and the results that it showed were sometimes silly. For example Copyscape is saying that one of the articles is plagiarized because it has the phrase "If you live in a" which is found in one of the articles dealing with the keyword. That's just silly. Anyway I will be testing the some others and see how they hold up.
 
Are there any tools that can check entire website for duplicate content? UN.CO.VER used to do this but now I don't know any....
 
yap, its closed. It was used Yahoo API.

I tried duplichecker and inserted a section of a text from my website and it did not detect any plagiarism. Un.Co.Ver was awesome at what it does.Sad to see its no longer working.Any other recommendation for free plagiarism checker? Thanks
 
There are many online websites that claim to check both text and hyperlinks, a bit too many to test and list. I thought I came across some free software but they turned out not to be so good. The ones that I use now are http://www.articlechecker.com/ and http://plagiarisma.net/ but that last one you are only allowed to test a website up to 5 times a day. Seems like everyone wants you to pay for a service now.
 
First actual post...Please if what I post won't in fact work long term...be gentle. Newbie, hoping that I have something to offer that might have value.

I am using the Mozilla Firefox Add-On: Site Info. The is a link to copy scape that checks intended website for duplicated content without having to log in.

I noticed that you have that option on the first page of CS but I have a faint..recollection of reading somewhere that this is not usable long term.

Sorry for the problem. Uncover used Yahoo's API and Yahoo decided to charge for it and deactivated UNCOVER. We are working to change the api to either Google or Bing.

That's great. I have a copyscape membership, though if UN.CO.VER doesn't work out I think I'll just get a plagiarisma.net premium membership. It works far better than copyscape in my opinion.
 
Never mind. It seems like UN.CO.VER is actually gone for good.

If you check out the "This Month at Textbroker: August" post in their Author Blog, one of their editors says:

Those of you using our plagiarism checker may have noticed that it is no longer working. This program was powered by Yahoo!'s API, and they have begun charging for API usage. Because we cannot support these costs, we will no longer be able to offer this program. For any authors aware of alternatives, feel free to comment on this post so that authors can continue checking their work.

It seems like they have given up trying to move the program to either Google or Bing's API.
