Hey I'm Jay and remember this site from... god maybe 2005ishh, so 20 years ago and I was 22 years old lol.
I got my hands full, so I'm using speech to text and I already know it's going to mess up most of what I'm saying.
Everything was much different back then and at the time if I recall correctly, this site had like really bad stuff going on with it and I just sort of faded away from it over time.
Also, the Internet was much different that really wasn't social media and all these new platforms and networking places and getting jobs and all that other stuff. It was more like building a black box to get free calls and quarters from a payphone or building little weird devices they are cool back then... because pagers were cool haha.
Anyway, a few months ago I got laid off and since I got comfortable on my job, I neglected my LinkedIn and anything really social media related. I didn't even have a résumé so basically for the last few months I've built up my LinkedIn profile just by reaching out to people, I knew over the last 20 years And it's formatted pretty good for the most part. I got a résumé, I'm sure it could be better, but it was looked over by a recruiter I knew but in a different state now but he said it passed the AI bot scan they use at least, so I'll take his word.
So in the process of looking on improving my LinkedIn profile by exploring other networking avenues I came across this site again and the name was obviously recognizable. I was shocked to see a pop-up in a Google search so of course I had to click on it and I ended up staying on the site before registering like an hour because there was so much interesting stuff that is here and available now that wasn't 20 years ago.
Also, I could tell it was formatted much better and there was actual structure to it almost immediately or from what I remember at least. I just am assuming someone else took over or there was a cleanup or something happened overtime that kept this place kind how it was originally but without all the toxic stuff and negativity and crap people remember who were on at the time.
I guess after saying all that my goal here would just be too do legit networking and find genuine like-minded people to talk to you or help out or help each other out. I'm sure there's places I never heard of which would be good for example to find jobs or just research because there's always stuff out there you don't know about.
And I know I might as well throw out with my introduction is I'm a pretty hard-core mixed martial arts fan and do Brazilian jiu-jitsu so I'm always down to talk about it, probably way too much haha.
