I hope someone can help me with this.
I have picked up a few UK SEO clients but I have previously had trouble get UK sites to rank because I always struggle to find good .co.uk backlinks.

Does anyone know the best ways that I can get a UK site to rank.

Here is the odd part, the webmaster tools are set to target the UK. But the site is No1 in the US searches (for a UK specific search term) but No14 on the .co.uk search.

Does anyone know of a UK private blog network or anything?

Hope some one can help

Thanks

Google this:

inurl:co.uk/blog

:)

Starting from that, you can expend your imagination! ;)

Go go google(dot)co(dot)uk and then search blog by using your targeted keyword to find out same niche blogs. Besides it, your preference should co.uk extension sites and blogs when you use seo channels means directory submission, article submission, search engine submission, Press release etc. I hope this strategy will work. Best of luck.

Hmm a couple of days ago i read it on BHW that somebody shared a high PR news network which is UK specific. There you can pots comments and get backlinks. I've tried looking up but can't find it.

In my experience, it really doesn't matter to get UK specific. The web is now a global phenomenon, and doesn't hold to borders. If webmaster is set to UK, and you have a broad base of directories/Google Places type citations, just ramp up the backlinking to high authority sites and your clients will float.

The fact the web is global is irrelevant, the OP asked for country specific ranking; and has already set the location to UK in webmaster tools.

In my experience it does matter to have Uk specific links to rank in google .co .uk and citations on Uk sites to rank in Google Places Uk, which is what most Uk clients want.

Preferably also a .uk TLD and Uk hosting.

Where is the site hosted?

If it's outside the UK - move it to a UK based server.

I'm based it the UK and don't really have any trouble - PM me the url / keyword and I'll take a look.
