UK cities and towns database

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find a .csv or excel file for the UK towns and cities population?

It needs to have town or city name, county and population.

I wouldn't have thought this would be difficult but the common downloads have wrong data such as Birstall having a population of 1424216!

Official census data are way to go in such cases. They are most accurate one and IMO everything else is just speculation. Although census data doesn't cover each and every place accurately but you'll get most of it.

In such cases I never used any other data (except independent statistics) than official census
