I had a CPA site penalized for thin content quite some time back, I never changed a single thing, now I'm checking after months and I see my site on the 6th page! Originally it was first spot for a really competitive CPA gaming keyword that made me BANK, and some other keywords that were extremely competitive that were on first and second page.

Anyone had this issue, I literally have no idea how this is even possible.

Maybe Google thought you are not a bad guy ? so they fix your site.

I have had websites slapped several years ago, that made a reappearance a couple of years later. However they never stayed around long, and also any attempt at SEO just seemed to push them further back.

There's a large update goes on in some niches and regions. Looks like some or all filters are disables as I see a lot of doorways ranking in the SERP.

Didnt happened with me yet. But someone in a Facebook group posted that his website was tanked with Fred and now its back again on its own.

As you said your site is on the 6th page... I wouldn't put much hope to seeing it in top again after a penalty.

Not really about that though, the fact it was slapped, no changes were made and it's 6th page when a lot of the links were changed.
