Ok I couldnt think of how to word the title to grab attention and describe what I am asking. Basically, and I am sure Im not the only one out there, like to use a different name for online (security reasons). So lets say my real name is john Don, but online its Tom Wom (lol). Well I just so happened to open an A.lertP.ay account so they can support other countries Paypal doesnt.. Problem i I signed up with tom wom and they need photo ID. so i scan my id, and I was thinking of just photoshopping the name from john don to tom wom. how illegal is this? Do they actually check? if they check then maybe ii should photoshop out the drivers licence #s on them?

How can I go about verifying a name that doesnt really exist? Or do I have to put my real name, which kinda makes things awkward when everyone ive been working with thinks my name is tom won and realize.. its not. And you might say 'say hes your superior/boss etc' well when I AM the boss and my workers know this... now what? thanks.

photoshopping works for paypal, you can try for alertpay and tell use whether it works or not.

do you think i should photoshop out th drivers #s? in case they look it up and see a different name

sorry but I guess you should not fake photo ID with alertpay... they have pretty strict rules, anyway they investigate all proofs carefully and when they see names like 'tom wom' they are going to realize that something is amiss lol :D and even if you get past the verification but still you will always run the risk of being banned... AP is not as big as paypal so they have more time to check etc....

By the way why not close that account and make a new one with your 'real' name ?
That sounds like the best option

just my two cents

Regards

Do you HAVE to get verified with AP? Think it over. The unverified status allows you to put any real name down, deposit/withdraw via check or money order, and so forth. The convenience of credit card processing is overrated, as the less places you put your financial info out on, the better.

Is he going to have a check withdrawal with name 'tom wom' on the check..??
The checks are made payable to the alertpay account holder name.. He is running a business so o be verified is a better option... Would you feel more comfy dealing with un or verified members ? Think that way to get the answer

haha the name is not tom wom, it is a more realistic name. but still. I need it verified to send money. and if I do take out checks with a name like George Bennet (more realistic name? lol) and try to deposit it into my bank account, that wouldnt work would it? haha

How about setting a DBA or corp with bank account using the 'Tom Wom' or whatever name, so you can withdraw to the fictitious name? I run business using AP too with two unverified accounts (one of them an Inc), and have had no problems.

little confused. how do you run a business without verifying, how do you send money? It wont let me.

Dr. Tom Wom sounds better. Anyhow, why not sign up with your real name, then have them make it a business account so only the business name shows up, then link your fake name's email address to that account, so if people send money to tom wom @ whatever, and will only see the biz name you chose. Should make your real name pretty effectively.

* I forgot to mention I do have a business account. ok, so i should just redo an account, with my real name, then add an email with the fake name and people will only see that or the business name? Will I be able to create another account with the same business name now?
