Ugghh!! Just My Luck!

My first problem with a credit car on the Internet happened 15 years ago. I purchased something and was billed 3 times for the same amount.

The folks at my bank investigated the "deal" and showed me a letter from the payment check-out facilitator that basically said I should be quiet about it or they would blacklist my name. Suffice to say I live in Europe and that the corporation in question was forbidden to deal with credit cards from my country and later with any country in Europe!

I never ever again used a credit card!

I use a free service created by the banks in my country to issue credit cards numbers valid for one transaction with buying limits imposed by the client.

And I always carry cash.

Sorry for your bad experience. You must have had a crappy bank who should have worked with you instead of against you.

I'm seriously thinking about going the old school route. Carry cash with me and use Credit Cards for emergency purposes only now that these skimmer scams are going on. These guys are clever as hell! If only they used their cleverness for more positive purposes.

Shame

Just pay close attention to the slots. In my country all ATM machines show an image of what the slot should look like. I always tripple check. If there's _anything_ fishy just contact the authorities. Over here the banks started to phase out the magnetic strip cards and are replacing them with chips.

That happened to me once at a liquor store ATM. I agree, now I only use ATMs at my bank.

Good points from both Satan Claus and NYCwriter! Yeah definitely only going to use ATM's at my own Bank. And of course this incident will always be stuck in the back of my head. Check for anything unusual on the machine and make sure nobody stands behind me. Technology is changing daily.

The banks won't take responsibility for this vulnerability it's cheaper for them to
pay compensation then to fix the problem.

add that to a scanned card and you may as well have your own money press
as opposed to a mint which produces coins

try to use prepaid credit cards :) transfer enough money on it before u purchase outside :)

4 Billion thanks, OP?

LOL , A lot of thanks u have there.
Anyway, Why everyone blaming the machine while I think its easier to be spammed on the internet !

Also another one that they do now is a mini mic so they can hear the tone given by the key presses, as a lot of people will now look for a camera, not a microphone.

I thought all the buttons made the same tone so as to avoid this? I can't actually remember if they do or not but its pretty stupid if they dont.
