Been seeing a lot of people advertizin the "fact" that Ubot exes can be de-compiled.

I was gonna buy it and now I am not so sure as I don't wanna waste time coding bots only to have em all decompiled :(

Anyone know if this claim to be able to decompile Ubot.exe's is true or not?

Thx

I have Developer version, and honestly I dont think its as easy to decompile one of them as everyone claims.
If your really worried about that though, there is a excellent licensing software being sold by one of the sellers on ubot forum that I purchased, for $77 that is without a doubt awesome! Its a hosted solution , with all kinds of features. It will make your bots basically operate like ubotstudio does, in the way that without it calling into your server its worthless.

Technically every program can be decompiled, so yeah you shouldn't let it put you off, we all download stuff from torrents and in here, yet developers are still selling.

Whats the locking program called that protects your bots for $77? I remember TJ (I think that was his name) was developing a locking system for a year or so and released it for a few hundred. Not $77 though.

Meters solution is pretty good, however for the price of a developer license I am getting slightly sick and tired of having to buy extra
plugins and protection systems to patch the holes left by the Ubot team. I am still waiting for the 'something cool coming soon' that Seth mentioned in his sales thread a few weeks back......

Interesting, can you pm me the software you were talking about?

Here is the locking software I was talking about

Its actually 79.00

Yeah I agree with you, Ive already seen some rather stupid holes left behind, that makes you have to work a little extra to protect your work. Im also curious as to what the something cool is , Ive asked support but of course just got a scripted answer. So i guess its wait and see

Many, if not most of the modern software is written in .net. Dot Net programs are fairly easy to decompile. Most obfuscation is useless. About the only way to make a .net program difficult to decompile is to remove the symbols. But if you can read assembly, even that is useless. So the developer places call home code in the software. Take it out. No big deal with programs like Dotnetdeficator, Reflexor, and IDA Decompiler. Of course modifying the code like that may have the unintended consequence of preventing updates.

Never found a program I couldn't decompile.
It's just whether it's worth the hassle or not.
Ubot can be decompiled. Everything can.
If you don't create apps because they could be decompiled...you would never create apps. Simple as that really. :)

Yea dumping il code is one thing, getting it to run again is another story ;) There's actually some decent obfuscation code out there now, but like anything else, spend enough time with something, you'll be able to get around the protection.

Thanks for all that info :)

I asked the same question on Seth Turins sales thread a few days ago and typically he has not bothered to comment.

I hear/read bad things about him often and it's part of my reluctance to pay for Ubot.

I got a copy of VStudio and that's a BIG learning curve so it would be handy to use Ubot for some stuff.

My worry is Ubots database tools which obviously need user/pass for the database hardwiring in and if hacked then deleting member data would be possible...

I guess like Panther says anything can be hacked so maybe just gotta take the risk.

How much is the dev version going for and is it the one to buy?

Thx

If you are connecting to a remote database, just send variables to a PHP script on your server and do all the databases stuff there if you can. That way all username / password stuff is on your box away from Ubot. Like you I do not like the idea of usernames / passwords being sat in an exe file.

So the one thing I can do here is chime in about my experience with him. Don't know the guy personally, but i did interface with him back when Ubot was still in the v1 days (nothing and I mean nothing like we know it today). I remember back then it was basically sunsetted so i found his aim address and pinged him online..only to find out he was building a completley new ubot which was then version 1 of Ubot2. Back then he really was by himself with no outside backers. Even helped him test his licensing server back in the day :) Needless to say, from my experience working with him he was/is a decent guy with great vision for a visual programming language he put into a cool gui.

As for response times today, I'm sure the dude is busy? But I get where you're coming from. It's a lot of money to be asking for something that should perform as expected. I stopped coding bots in ubot a while ago, but wouldn't hestitate to go back if I get the itch again. My last huge, and I mean HUGE bot that i programmed would submit to 200+ top bookmarking sites, 45 web 2.0's, etc etc. It was fun to do it myself, but after awhile the maintenance was taking me away from actually making money ;)

The few differences between pro version and Dev version, is there is a few more advanced things you can do with the Dev, that supposedly you cant do with pro, Not sure I only used pro version for 2 days before upgrading to Dev, My main reason for upgrading from pro to dev, was to get rid of the powered by ubotstudio shit, found on all your bots in the pro version. Maybe it's just me, but I was a little pissed off, when I realized I had to spend another $200 and some odd dollars to upgrade to dev version so my bots werent labled with that shit. For what the pro version costs, in my mind it should not have that crap in the first place. But thats just me.

Well, they can be DE-assembled and properly used in your own way for sure.

If your security relies on obfuscation it is not security. If the compiler can read it, so can anyone that with the required RE knowledge. Returning values from a php script is no good either, because of Man-in-the middle attacks, any app that does that can get cracked within minutes. You can write a HTTP Proxy using Fiddler and intercept the requests the application/server does, and then simply copy the 'login successful' message and send it everytime to the application, the only thing that slows someone down is because they have to actually buy the application to know the 'login successful' message. But even then, it's just pointless because the application _has_ to check if the message from server is valid or not, and that check can simply be nopped/moved somewhere else so it doesn't have any effect on the state. This is especially easy with .NET apps, there is a way to make it uncrackable though. Simply execute the most important part, with which the application cannot work without on a remote server, which then replies the result to the client. So yeah, any of those "super bot ubot guru" protection mechanisms can get cracked via few minutes, as they simply call a php script, and act based on the result.

guys its soo easy to decompile bots created with UBot well , I saw one guy who teaches me how to decompile Ubot and he stated that UBot Community is mad at him

if you want to develop a professional bot then you should learn some programming language and write your own bot
its time consuming but that way you can provide various security options to prevent decompilation of your bot
