U.S. backlinks for french website ?

Hi there,

i wonder do backlinks coming from U.S. websites help in ranking a french website ?
(anchortext would be in french) If you ever ranked a website with backlinks coming not from the country the website is located - it would be nice if you could share your experience.

I'm actually ranking websites in Italian with back links from non Italian websites and they work without problems. Anchor text should be in your website (the keyword, obviously) language!

You'll still get benefit from backlinking on websites in a different language to yours, a backlink is a backlink in the end, and it all adds to diversity in my opinion

even though backlinks from u.s. websites don't hurt, bacllinks from french websites would be better.

Yeah I'd say they would work well however I'd get as many from France as you can. I'm trying to rank a site at the moment and I'll be using both uk and us backlinks to both the .com and .co.uk domains.

Yes they are good. You have to look also at blog comments from high PR pages and forum threads (FR for both), they have good stick rate as the moderation is not so high. This from my experience

Im working on some french website too and i can assure that US backlinks will work BUT they take more time and you need more backlinks , i have tried blasting with just French websites and i got the results much faster .
BTW Try link exchanging too you will get some good results , its still working very good for non english websites (it was a surprise for me ) Just scrape some french websites whois then use interspire email marketer to contact all of them including their names and their website in the mail , this will help getting more response .
