Typing speed?

I learned to type in elementary school. We used an educational computer program called "Type to Learn"
It used to get loud with you when you consistently missed the same keys. "V".. >b .. "V" >b .. > "VEEEE"
The teacher used to cover our hands with a cloth so we couldn't look

Mine is 50wpm i think this is average and good speed to have

cheers

Yes, I hear that 50-60 wpm is usually what employers look for, though it does depend on the industry your looking to get into. Don't plan on being a stenographer with only 50-60 wpm :)

I took a few tests about a year ago and averaged around 92.

But if I'm just typing in skype and on BHW then I'm probably around 40 or 50 lol.

The fastest that I am able to type is around the 140 wpm mark. I guess I usually just type at a speed of around 80 wpm. I try to think before I type. ;)

Seriously, what is your secret?! how long have you been training for this lol?

Before I took the test I thought of myself that I'm a fast typer comparing myself with other people I've met and I got only 76 ....but 148?!?!

None of the "speed calculators" have any real significance, especially when everyone is using something different (and even when they're using the same software but different texts). People don't realize how many factors come into play, _especially_ the content. Take two people with the same typing speed, from two different fields (e.g. one being a geography teacher and the other being a doctor). Guaranteed the doctor would stomp the teacher on a speed test that contains a lot of medical terms, and the reverse is also true (e.g. uncommon places). Give someone words they don't know and watch how drastically their speed drops.

Typing:
Be mindful of how you approach time. Watching the clock is not the same as watching the sun rise.

I got 120 WPM.

But while typing:
Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.

I got 105.

Meanwhile, typing the same sentence over and over and over (this is a test), I was able to consistently stay at 190WPM indefinitely. But think about it, in that case, no word is longer than 4 characters so of course my "WPM" is high - the real question would be character per minute.

For what it's worth, I'm using:
calculatorcat.com/typing_test/

My WPM is around 50-55. I thought getting a 100plus WPM is only a bluff. But there are really people who could type in greater speed. That's just awesome.
