A friend of mine makes nice beats.

We were thinking of doing 'non-copyright' beats, but copyright them after a couple of months when people used it. Would this work?

Not sure how we would catch people using it on Spotify and other services, but YouTube would work, right?

I know this is scummy, but money is money.

I'm pretty sure you legally can't just give out free licenses and later on charge for them (in form of money or copyright claiming). And I have to agree with @Blackhat Lifter, that's pretty fucked up. Learn to market those beats and stop screwing people over.

Not worth the hassle mate, in my opinion.

I have seen some DJs recently selling USB sticks with royalty free music on them. Maybe you could do something similar to that? Like a beat-stick. USB stick with XXX number of beats on it, free for use - Kick start your DJ career / music production career with these ready to use, royalty free, sick beats for only $99 or whatever.

Also; thread moved.
