Dear Forum users,

I can't get around the question, I hope you can give me some advice to make a decision.

I currently own two websites, one website sells LG phone accessories and the other sells Apple phone accessories.
As it is working at the moment I want to expand, but not with brand related sites anymore. I want to create a website were customers can buy phone accessories for all phone brands.

As this new website will also include Apple and LG, the website will compete with my brand related websites on search terms like for example: "LG Optimus black case".
The content and layout from the new website will be completely different then the brand sites, but the new website will be hosted on the same VPS as the brand sites.

Ofcourse I want my new website to rank as good as possible, should I get another IP-address for the new website? Or do you guys think it doesn't matter if the new website is partly ranking on the same keywords as my existing brand sites?
If you have any advice what to do I will be extremely happy with it, i'm currently a starter at SEO and this really goes above my mind at the moment.

I am only looking for White-Hat ways to handle this problem, I want to stay as far away from Black-hat as possible.

Thanks in advance for all the input and if anything is not clear please let me know and I will try to explain it better. :D:D

Thanks!

Unless you've got an extremely large number of identical sites on the same subnet - there isn't too much to worry about; says Matt Cutts.
Given that you are only talking about a handful, and not thousands you should be golden.

However.. The alternative is only an extra few bucks per month in hosting. Is that worth peace of mind?

Best of luck with your new authority website!

Somebody answered but the post disappeared? Anyway what do you guys think?

keep them separate.

I run one big site covering lots of subniches and various other sites covering just the subniches, and it works for me.

Some searcges I pretty much own page #1.

Thanks for your reply Partymarty4870! To be more specific, do you mean with keeping them seperate, not linking to each other but host them on same VPS, Same VPS with different IP for new website or host the new website on a completely new VPS at the same or other hosting-company? Thanks!

Its not hard to make two websites rank for same keywords... All you need to do is proper keyword insertion and right keyword promotion.
You may get another IP for new website. And getting partly ranked for existing brands is also good. This will cut your optimization efforts.
