Two questions regarding an E-commerce

Hello,

I am currently making websites for someone who wants to start very specific niche shops, they are country specific with low competition.
I am using wordpress with a shop plugin.
Now I have 2 questions regarding the domain and hosting:

1) Should we register 1 domain and make subdomains for every shop, or register a domain for every shop? Since we are not talking about automated content here, I do not see why using subdomains should affect ranking.

2) Which hosting do you recommend if we are talking about 30-40 shops to start with. Should we just use hosting with unlimited domains or should we consider using a VPS or even a dedicated server?

I would do a domain for every shop with the localized extension. I would also use a platform that has has the ability to run multiple sites like magento. with magento you could run all those different sites off of one backend
 
yes definitely each site has its own hosting you can interlink these together and it will be your own private network.
 
if you can afford, then - different hostings and dedicated servers will do the job. Just monthly fee for that will be huge. Depends how mutch traffic are you are planning to make.
Regarding wp+ecommerce plug ins - be carefull.....as people saying wp ecommerce is good for not more than 100 products per site.

I totally disagree with the "wp-ecommerce plug-in's" only being good for 100 products per site. I own many e-commerce wordpress sites and have thousands and thousands of digital products on them. Actually the more the better and authority you gain. Not sure if i can post a link or contact info but if your interested in the wp-theme i use that's e-commerce let me know.
 
If you plan on having your own network of sites, be sure to check out "seo hosting" companies. Dont't leave any footprints for Google...
 
1. Having different domains might be a good idea as it will help you in SEO.

2. Hosting with unlimited domains is economical and better I think as it comes with unlimited bandwidth too.
 
use magneto, set up multiple stores under the one store - each store can be hosted elsewhere and have its own domain name, all orders come to the one backend and all stores can be administered from the one back-end, the upfront work is a pain in the ass, but the long-term benefits are enormous.

Thanks everybody, for your responses. I will look into magento, but for now I'll stick with wordpress because it has a massive amount of plugins. Also having an option to make posts will certainly benefit SEO purposes.

I think we will use hosting with unlimited amount of domains to start with, since we only have the resources to start about 8 shops at this time. I'm sure more will become available soon, but for now we will stick to this since we can use the money we make out of these 8 shops to invest in the hosting.

As for the domain issue, I'm still not completely sure what to use. Ofcourse normal domains benefit SEO. But subdomains do not necessarily harm other SEO that has been used on the site, right?. The guy I'm working for has this brand name and he wants to use it as a kind of supermarket under which all of these shops are located, and that is why I think keyword.brandname is more beneficial.

Please tell me what you think.

mrfarshay, do you mind share - witch wordrpress plug in do you use for your wp e-commerce sites? And how mutch traffic do you get?
 
Is that theme comes automathically with e-commerce platform on it?:confused:
