Two-Month Site Got Google Page Rank 4 - Any Explanations?

I created my website on July 2011. Towards the end of August 2011, it has GPR 4. And there are only 5 sites linking to it. Any one here can explain how my site went from 0 to 4 Google page rank in just two months (with only 5 backlinks)?

I've had a site jump up after a short time only to settle down after a while and decrease a few levels in PR.
 
Of course it depends what sites are linking to it, what PR those sites have and how many sites they link out to.

Also might be links that arnt showing up - where are you checking for links?
