I have two different websites which are targeting the same product in the same country, but in different cities. For example: BikesinLondon.com and BikesinBristol.com Would it have any impact to seo if I will use the same design for both websites?

It shouldn't. I would just forward both domains to one site if they are designed identically. Many users get turned off by a site that has duplicates. It makes the products seem cheaper in my humble opinion.

if articles, linkbuilding + linkmap different - no reason to worry

Yes, of course articles will be different, but I was thinking about building links the same way for both websites. Is it bad to have same backlinks for them? They are also on the same ip.

I can't do that because I have two different suppliers for that product ant both are delivering it only to the city where they are.

Similar backlinks should not hurt you, just be very careful to not offer too much duplicate content on the sites. Google frowns heavily on that and will crush you in the rankings if they find too many similar phrases or images.

Is it that big of a pain to just have one template customized? I'd think that if you're making money on these sites it would be worth the 5 extra minutes and extra $100 to have one altered... why be cheap?

You are fine. You can even do "bikesandbaubles-london.com, and "bikesandbaubles-bristol.com" for branding purposes and still not have a problem.

You might be surprised how many people have your same theme.

Same design for both websites will not impact SEO but it can impact Conversion Rate, but make sure that you use entire different content, images on them.

If you are thinking about building links the same way for both websites then also ensure that you use entirely different content for link building for both of your websites.

Thank you all for the answers, now everything is clear for me!
