Twitter White Hat Methods

Hey guys, I?m not new to the forum or using black hat methods but recently partly because of the help of Black Hat World?s amazing wealth of information I was able to land a solid job with a tech start-up. The problem that I?m having is that I now have to use white hat methods.. My employer doesn?t want me to use any black hat tactics and wants me to target certain groups that would be interested in our product.

My question to everyone is what kind of white hat methods do you use to build up your Twitter accounts and what tools are you using? What limitations do you set on those accounts? What do you suggest? Keep in mind that if I lose this Twitter account I basically lose my job.


I?m still using Tweet Attacks for building my companies Twitter account. I?m following about 40-100 people a day but never all at once. I like to split it up through out the day. I?m unfollowing 20-30 people a day before I start following. And on the weekends I don?t touch it too much.


I?m also using ManageFlitter to help me unfollow the dead weight.
I've also entered the accounts name into the Twellow directory with keywords. But I?m not sure how useful that?s been so far.

I've linked the Facebook account page to post onto Twitter. I'll start building up lists soon and mentioning followers that have recently followed the account.

The account itself has 250 Followers and I'm usually 150+ in who I follow. Once I have more followers on the account I'll change the ratio to be higher for Followers. I know SEO affects your account negatively if you have a higher Following to Follower ratio.

Suggestions and tips are very much appreciated.

Offer something for free on your legit account.

Get few hundreds of blackhat twitter account with follower and/or reply them that @legit account there is a freebie on their interest?

I'm in similar boat. Using tweetattacks for several account just to carefully add/drop. You may also want to use socialoomph to auto follow, then put all in que for 3 days. Good auto sort feature marks all w/o custom image, or too low followback %, or key phrase. Adds to the manual process of approving, but lets you purge those without any credibility.

On the credibility tip, you should work to improve your klout and peerindex scores. Most desktop clients have one or the other built in. Check out tweepi instead of managefilter. So you can unfollow those w/o klout. This will increase your score.

Other BS stuff you can do for business by plugging into linkedin. Their twitter client called canvas doesn't suck as much as you would think. Join a ton of highly populated software groups. Then you can gain followers on both who are more likely human followers, not bots.

Thank you mindmaster. That is certainly something I can explore when I have more follows. I had thought of contests, the only problem is that my employer doesn't want any fake followers. He's a very intelligent individual and actually goes through each follower to look at as a potential client. I tried to convince him that even if they were fake that the number alone would be enough for some real follows to follow us but he wouldn't go for it.


Rogerebert, that was quite helpful. And more along the lines of what I was looking for. I had checked out Socialoomph but hadn't been able to fully explore it. So it's definitely on my to do list now that you've given some positive feedback for it. I just tried out Tweepi. And it kicks the shit out of what I was using before.
I hadn't thought Klout had come along that far already. But, I suppose it makes sense considering that they continue to show up on tech news sites.
I planned on building up the LinkedIn account very soon. I was just trying to make sure I could push Twitter enough.

Auto follow those who tweet a word related to your business.

You can get someone on fiverr to RT your tweets or have them ask their followers to follow you.

Go into tweetchat and start answering peoples' questions and be friendly with them. This is how I got most of my followers (white hat method).

You say you are working for a business, so it shouldn't be too hard to focus in on your target audience. Utilize the hastags, follow the people who are ranked top in the area niche and RT them (wefollow) and try to utilize trend keywords in your tweets, but still have the tweet make sense.

Altar59 I don't trust fiver because I know how ridiculous it really has become. However if you know of someone that you have used in the past that you can recommend then I would be more intrigued and willing to look into that more. As far as using trends keywords I already use those if it's relevant to my niche. And I'm of course using hashtags and occasionally tweeting to followers. Thanks for the suggestions mate.

Rawaccess I haven't found software to Autofollow that I trust yet. And I have to limit how many people I actually follow each day to not appear suspicious. I don't want to catch the eyes of twitter. Right now I'm scraping competitors lists. This is something however that I will do in the future once I break 2k followers. But that's not going to be for awhile.
