Twitter trends and followers

Does an account gain more publicity and followers by tweeting with trend keywords or tweeting about a specific area of focus every time?

At least for the latter the account will gain interested followers. But is always nice to mass volume when starting out to get that "if he/she is following him then I will too!" mindset.

Thoughts?

Content is King.

It doesn't matter what it is or how it is...its the fact that you do both, ALL THE TIME! That will get followers.

it will definitely gets you more exposure, however if you overdo it, you may get banned:
