Twitter traffic... how effective are retweets?

So I have an idea to use twitter to drive traffic to my blog with either a content locker (haven't had great results) or a targeted CPA offer.

How efficient would 1,000 retweets be in driving targeted traffic? I've never used twitter to market before but I'm assuming 1,000+ retweets could make something trend/go viral?

Also whats the best twitter tool out there right now since tweet attacks is dead?

sounds good would like more details...is there an investment involved

I tried this method with no success at all (low traffic, not converting). Of course anything is possible, I'd love to hear success story about this, keep us posted.
btw content locker is definitely a must for twitter traffic.

I would set up a couple dozen (or more obviously if you can) and set them up all on wait and reply

with retweets it all depends on niche..who the twitter users are and what they are interested in is what you should do. I tried retweets on two different websites and two different niches. One worked extremely well where the retweet got me 280 visitors site normally gets 15 while on the other site i got no visitors.
