Hello,

I have a Twitter account that I opened on September 30th. I currently have a little bit above 7,000 followers. I have been following (around 1,000 daily. I pick accounts and follow their followers one after the other, the active ones) and unfollowing those who don't follow back the next day and repeating the same process (manually, no apps nor software is being used). I use the app TwitFollow to see who is not following back and unfollow them through the app manually (one after the other until I am done). I did this for the past month or so and this morning when I opened Twitter my account was suspended. I got it back right after I did the I will not break the rules survey.

Am I going to be ok if I keep doing this (without going for 1,000 follows daily, maybe 750?)? How many times can you be suspended before they close your account and not get it back?

My account is active. I do get a lot of RTs (sometimes 300+, mainly 75-200). I have about 500 tweets. I want to continue doing this for at least 3-4 months to gain more followers and then stop. Is the problem that I follow too quickly? I do the 1,000 follows in about 1 hour and unfollow those who don't follow back the next day one after the other in maybe 30 mins.

Any help will be appreciated.

It's obvious their monitoring your acct for spam. Surely you know to have a backup account in the event of a shutdown? Twitter,Inc can change their TOS at anytime and you would be vulnerable. Protect yourself from enemies and surprises. Always have a backup. Good luck.

As far as following goes, you need to follow throughout the day, and I would follow less than 1000/day. Like you said, 750 is much better. My account has 20k followers right now and has been getting suspended since day 1. In total, I've been suspended somewhere between 40-50 times. Just spread out your following and you'll be fine. As far as unfollowing goes, there is no limit although I wouldn't unfollow more than 5k/day.
Ps. If you're getting that many retweets you really don't need to be following 1k/day.
Hope this helped :)

Thank you all for your replies. How many following per hour would it be safe to do? is 250 per hour better? Can I unfollow 1k in an hour 24 hours after following and not being followed back?

Yes, you can unfollow 1k in an hour. 250 is possible but still puts your account at risk. The safest way is to automate the process (using a program like followliker) and follow 45 per hour which will total 1080 per day. This is safe, as they are spread out. Twitter focuses much more on how many you follow per hour than how many you follow per day. Over 50/h will get you suspended.

I thought I was gonna lose my account when I saw that it was suspended. I was glad when I got it reinstated and saw all my followers again. So even if I was to continue with my strategy of following 1,000 per day I wouldn't completely lose it? Do you get several suspensions or is it one strike and next time you're gone?

Thanks fredfred547. I didn't want to use automated software to gain followers as I am going for followers that are going to "interact" with my account. I am not really going for "x" number of followers. I think getting more RTs in the long run gives me a better chance of gaining followers with my same interests rather than having people that don't care about them.

It all depends on how badly you break the rules and how old your account is. I've gotten permanently suspended on multiple accounts with a few hundred follows for following 100 people at a time. I can do the same thing on my year old main and won't get permanently suspended, even though like I stated above, following 100 at one time will get you temporarily suspended eventually. As far as losing your account goes, following 1k people in less than 5 hours is bound to get you in trouble. I have never even tried following so many in such a short time.

Are you serious???

1000 per day and you are suprised for being banned??? Here is my tip, I have few twitter accounts for my authority sites... Never and when I say NEVER, I mean never follow more than 200 people per day... PERIOD!!!

What about follow back limits? Anyone has any experience. I bought a real followers and need to follow them back to prevent them from unfollowing. What is save max a day?

When I saw that kind of stuff in the twitter section...they tell me to shut up, nice to know that someone else with experience agrees with me. :)

Does it look natural if you follow 250 people? Why would you follow 250 people? Most large accounts follow a handful of people only. By following tons, you're simply setting an easy to detect footprint.

Well beside following people make sure to favorite and share posts from other profiles , hence your account won't seem that spammy

Dude 250 per hour, you crazy? :D I follow 50 per day. Dont risk your 7k followers.

Google "twitter follow rules" - Twitter has a whole page dedicated to this. Whilst they do not give out hard and fast specifics about what will get you suspended, the existence of this page shows how seriously they take, what they call "aggressive" following and follow churn (foll/unfoll). My advice, have a few accounts. Try different foll/unfoll strategies on each account and see what gets you suspended or not, and then use the best/safest strategy for all your accounts. Test/change/re-test and repeat.

Strange, I follow 3,000 a day
Also I have unfollowed 100k in one day without any suspensions

I think it has got a lot to do with account age
