My twitter account got suspended this morning for too many @replies.
the message I received stated that these are tweets that begin with another users handle.

however, I never send @replies. Do you think it covers retweets as well (which I do a lot of)?

got the account un-suspended as it was just their usual first warning suspension, but don't want the same thing to happen again...

yes i suppose it involves re tweets as well

an @reply is not just a retweet though. Its also addressing the original tweeter so you may have had complaints from them.

Edit: I also do a lot of retweets and have never seen this. According to the tos you will only get suspended for constantly RTing spam. Might want to mix up what you are retweeting. I sometimes modify or add to a tweet again to make it look like its a human account.

Thanks for taking the time to do a comprehensive reply.
It is strange, I don't do any @replies. so its definitely not that.
I do a few tweets, but mostly retweets to be fair.
It is an adult account though, so maybe theres an issue there? But I am only retweeting other people in the adult industry, so I dont think I would get reported.
I am probably doing 80% retweets though, over anything else, so maybe your right and I need to mix it up a bit?

Is there anyway you could have accidentally contacted someone not in the adult niche you are in that could have triggered a report. Twitter takes reports quite seriously these days you have to be very specific with your targeting. Just a thought.

Not intentionally, but I guess it is possible.

I had the same thing few days ago, account got suspended, sent them email with question what am I doing wrong. Normally they are never explaining but this time I've got email which said I am doing too many mentions and replies but I am not doing any of that - zero. I am running 60+ accounts on TweetDemon - posting & follow back only. All accounts with the same setting. Still one or two are getting suspended from time to time. How come?

My best guess it's Twitter filters which are suspending accounts by mistake.Difficult to guess what can trigger such a mistake but it should be something.

You may be right. Its crazy for me though as Im not even using an automated software.
Anyway, I think I am just going to be a bit more steady and not concentrate on one thing only (IE retweets).

Pretty cool though, by the time my account got reinstated and my follower stats returned, I had gone from 65 followers to 185 followers so I must be doing something right:-)

Favorites do the same thing as well. Got suspended last week

Take it easy. As I said - it's creazy Twitter filters suspending accounts by mistake. All my 66 accounts are doing the same thing including 4 RT per hour. Still 1 or 2 are getting suspended. Looks like part of the game. Just send them email, reply to it and wait.

The latest news... Just got 3 accounts suspended...3days...still suspended. So I've login into account and opened another tab with https://twitter.zendesk.com - check your requests. To my surprise I've seen red button at the bottom - AWAITING RESPONSE. What? I've sent them emails after suspension. Is it new suspension procedure??? Anyway, I've submitted response. In a couple of hours two accounts got unsuspended. But I've got an email from Twitter it's because of extensive replies OR mentions. I did not do any - ZERO.

My next guess - let's check applications - and here it is - Mobile Twitter something... read, write and send DM. I am rarely accessing accounts from iPad I don't recall to authorize this app. And I remember my other acc was getting suspended with the same app which was posting a lot of spam on my timeline - I don't know how...After changing password everything was OK. I've sent an email to Twitter on the subject but not sure they will ever answer. Anyway, I think the best solution in this situation is to change password.

That sounds harsh. Getting banned just for that.

Are they changing?

Try to contact twitter.
Some times this happens by mistake, and by contacting them asking to have your suspension lifted they might lift it.

I've contacted them about well over 100 accounts in the past two years, most of the time you get them back, as long as it was not a pure spam account.

To avoid such a thing from happening again you should compose your tweets and tweet different things every time you tweet. However you can reply 50 times with the same tweet but it's safe to mix it up.

I've figured out this "too many replies or mentions" thing. One of my accounts got suspended again which was using auto favorites from keywords with SocialWax. Checked favorites & OMG - it was doing about 10 or so Fav a MINUTE. Sure it contained some mentions. So I've disabled that app and will not use it again

I have tons of legit twitter accounts -- i don't use at hardly at all -- retweet a lot - never had a problem - i use tweet adder - had the old one too miss it -- I have been suspended for aggressive following a few times - usually after i change the name and then start removing folks that did not follow back -- I make money charging for twitter services - -tweeting growing accounts etc
