Twitter now called X.com

Never seen rebranding actually work. Like....ever

Even the Chinese kept the brands they bought in the West
Lots of examples of successful rebrandings. The rebranding Musk is after isn't just changing the name. The name change is part of an overall pivot of what Twitter offers.

Elon, like Meta and other Western chat app and social media companies, are hoping to be the first to create a successful "super app" in the West.

Basically these "super apps" are just a rehash of what AOL used to be, a walled garden platform that acts as a one stop solution for a bunch of otherwise unrelated things.

So instead of just sharing content and messaging people, you'd also have shops selling things in the app, you'd have food delivery, you'd have a payment processing service.

In Asia you already have apps like this in China, Japan, and SEA. Weibo, Line, etc. Musk and Elon want to make something similar. So does Apple although their platform is iOS and their phones rather than an app.

The problem with this is we already had it with AOL and it eventually failed. Facebook has been trying and failing to become this for a decade.

It's hard enough to do one thing really well and gain & hold a big market share. Try and be the best or second best at a dozen things across multiple industries and good luck with that.

I think social media platforms have become a stage for politics.

The Left = Mark Zuckerberg
The Right = Elon Musk

Choose your platform based on your politics.

now im just waiting for it to be x.com instead of twitter.com !

He's the majority shareholder so that isn't going to happen.

So the board can't remove him? I thought shareholders could vote CEOs out, even if they own a majority of stock

Yeah social media sucks

The issue is that he is significantly damaging the brand. He has suffered a huge loss on Twitter and is now attempting to regain his brand's reputation. However, it's challenging to understand him at times.

Elon's crazy IMO

Seems like monday it'll switch permanently. The bird is gone. Now called X

Elon Musk bought x.com twenty years ago, and later it was redirected to PayPal. Now he has redirected it to Twitter. Even though Musk's actions are sometimes disgusting, I didn't find anything wrong with this particular thing. X might be his lucky alphabet.

Edit: I just read that he bought it again because of the sentimental values.

There's no stock. Elon took it all private.
There are some board members who are basically Elon's yes men.

Dude's the Supreme Overlord of Twitter X.

This video has tiktok vibes. Maybe Elon is a genius and converts Twitter into the first adult TikTok?

Or combines the best features of Twitter, IG and TikTok and puts it all into X.

Twitter/X don't do enough with videos, which is what the attention-seekers want to use the most.

XXX porn hubs value just went up,

But the reason x is brand association space x, media x,
