Twitter no longer sending notif. when new follower?

I use my personal Twitter account a lot, and I realized that these days, I almost never receive an in-app notification when I get a new follower.

My question: Has Twitter stopped sending new followers notifications? Or are they sending them only when certain criteria are met? Like, if they judge you're over-following people, they don't send notifications?

I'm kinda worried because I'm planing on starting a new project where I'd like to gain new followers by following people.

Maybe it has something to do with this new(ish) setting?
