I've seen a lot of people talking on here about how they're getting anywhere between 200-400 new Twitter followers a day. I have a pretty aged account and for every 750-800 people I follow in the music niche that I'm in (I target similar sounding bands, etc) I get roughly 50 people that followback. Any tips on how to increase that number and find better niches that I can target? What niches are you using to get such great returns?

It's hard to say. The number of follow backs you get are not solely based on the niche. It has a lot to do also with account presentation. For instance, if you have a business account with a logo in the picture vs. a personable professional account with you in the picture, the personable account always wins. People are less inclined to follow businesses, especially ones they don't know.

On the flip side, an account with a person who updates their tweets more personably is more likely to follow you back, rather than a band or business.

So it somewhat ties into niche if you think of it as "who's automating and promoting themselves vs. who's tweeting just to tweet and be entertained". Regular tweeters follow back more often. Different Business niches? Not really. Unless they automate that too, which still doesn't matter. The Music niche? Not that much.

Also, "teamfollowback" or "follow4follow" people will convert into followers easier, and are rarely promoting anything. If your following because you have a product for musicians, don't bother, but if you're promoting music, they easily convert to fans in my experience!

My account is pretty personal as it is. I don't try and sell anything, EVER. Maybe trying teamfollowback will help. I just don't want followers for the sake of followers, I'd prefer people who are actually going to engage.

I see. I'd suggest following the followers of popular account like @ItsLifeNotes and others. Im my experience they do like to follow back, but they are also still engaging.

go to a popular twitter account and follow all there followers

Lol I know to do that. I just know that certain accounts, such as the one mentioned above, gets better returns than say, the local newspaper's following.
