Twitter - Maybe another huge change?

Twitter recently got slammed with a report that 8.5-15% or more of their accounts are bots. A detailed report discussed how bots are used to create traffic. People have been calling for Dorsey's resignation.

Remember 2013 when a report came out about how Twitter was so spammy? After that huge changes came.

I have a feeling bots are going to be hammered sooner than later.

Any thoughts here?

Just do manual if that is the case. Quality is more important than quantity.

The number of fake accounts on Twitter is not what will cause Dorsey's resignation. If you look at the numbers, Facebook has %10+ fake accounts which isn't very far away from Twitter's. The problem that Twitter has is the low %1 revenue growth, and very low user growth, causing the stocks to plummet and making investors unhappy. I wouldn't worry about bots being hammered any time soon though, Twitter already made this mistake once, when they banned tons of people for political reasons. A lot of those bots cannot be differentiated from real accounts.

Good call y'all. I also feel like twitter screwed themselves a bit by banning lots of power users who used mass follow and bots to RT. It did bring authentic traffic to the platform in ways I don't see as heavy anymore

Hey hopestill,

1. I don't think bots are the reason for people calling for Dorsey's resignation.
2. Yes, 2010-2012 is what I call "Twitter marketing" Glory days. Bots on auto-pilot, money raking in day by day. But all good things must come to an end.
3. Spamming does not work as it used to, with API limits and consumers being attacked left and right with spam messages.
4. There is still a lot of money to made, but with a different approach. Content is king nowadays.
5. Someone above me said "quality over quantity", and that my friend, in my humble opinion, separates the pro marketer from the rookie.

I don't think so. They're already suspending a lot of accs. The suspension patterns are already a mess now with no consistency whatsoever.
They can't possibly want to suspend more accs than this, because they would lose a lot of accs in the process, which would look bad.
