Twitter marketing question

So i was going to use TweetAdder for a client to get targeted followers on his twitter account, by following the followers of his competitors and unfollow the ones that don't follow days after X days.
His question, which is pretty reasonable, is why should a company/brand follow private people, and if it doesn't look weird...
Any reasonable explanation for that?...
 
The simple answer is "engagement". It gives companies another way to analyse what customers like and dislike, and where to invest more effort. Every brand when starting out needs to follow people to see how they interact with others, not just your company.

Yes that's right. If you don't follow people (like most of the big companies do) you look arrogant and people think you won't engage with them. So they will never tweet you cause they think you will not reply anyways.
