    I had a feeling it would be opt-out rather than than opt-in. But this could be a good thing for marketers, once we find out how to game the new algorithms.

    not even from a marketing point of view, but this will make a lot of users rage or already did, when #riptwitter was trending a few days ago

    hard to tell the impact just now, until it will be opt in, i guess we won't see too big of a change, after that it will be more interesting, i expect to see not just negative effects

    as long as gaming the system goes, i'm visioning that the (fake) retweet/like service will get a boost, if it will play out like mashable describes and with time twitter will show the most important tweets at the top by default (important tweets aka tweets which were liked/retweeted enough to count as important)
