Twitter Help

Hi to all black hatters this is my first thread!

I have a lot experience with fb, pinterest and instagram but apparently not so much with twitter so I am looking for your help in this one. I have 1 year old twitter account that I used for posting memes and have 15k followers. The engagement wasn't as I expected, it was around 40, 50 likes and 30,40 retweets per post. I tried several ways to monetize it but with little success, so i stopped posting. The account was not active for around 4 months now so I deleted all posts changed the name with new niche I am now looking to target but the engagement is awful (around 4,5 likes and 2,3 retweets).


So, I am looking for opinions what you think I should do, do I need to start looking for a new niche or because the account was not active for long time the engagement is dead together with the account. And is there a way to live up again the account

yea it sounds like you need to find a new niche. but don't expect traffic from your 15k followers. my traffic usually comes from searches i can get 100 link clicks easy with just 5 followers . follow trending topics etc

I'm focused on Twitter more than the other social media sites because it's proven to be the most effective for me. But I'm also of the opinion that sometimes people can spread themselves too thin by trying to manage too much social media. When I was doing "all social media" I noticed I wasn't as happy... because I knew some of it wasn't working, and I was just going through the motions. So, I ended up just focusing on what I liked and what I saw working for me (twitter and linkedin).

I'm not sure if 15K followers from the past will make a dent.

My goal on twitter is mostly about getting fresh active influencers in a given niche to become followers. So, I'd say, the first step to getting it up and running again is to follow a bunch of people in your new niche, some will follow back, retweet a bunch of stuff from high quality people, and hopefully they retweet your stuff. The action comes back to a stale account quickly.

i'm curious how do you work linked in ? twitter is good for traffic but reddit is great i averaged 4000 clicks and climbing from 3 days activity before getting shut down

yea OP the 15k followers won't do much they followed you for comedy relief and whatever your new niche is i'm doubtful they're in the target audience.

Thank you for your opinion, I planned on doing something similar. But I thank you for the important boost, I was planning to abandon the account. I will give it one last try

I guess I will try combination of new niche and new tactic with follow/unfollow and targeting trending posts. Thank you.

You rebranded the account, no wonder that you get this low engagement now. Practically you're starting a new account, with the difference that you already have 15k followers, so new followers will stick with a better rate.
It also can be that you aren't using the best hashtags. Use tools like hashtagify.me and ritetag to find the most appropriate hashtags.
Follow active, targeted accounts and the engagement rate should start increasing again.

30-40 RTs per tweet for a 15k account wasn't that bad at all. If you came from instagram, it might seem low, but on the Twitter scale it's quite normal.

15k twitter followers are related to niche at the most beginning( you have not mention). Niche related followers will engage in related post only. As per your threat you got impressive likes and re-tweets at the beginning and when you had changed your niche post engagement drops. You need to chose your niche related to what it was at the beginning.
You can monetize your twitter account in following ways:
1. Sponsor tweet (create sponsor tweet service in seoclerks, fiverr and other)
2. Tweet affiliated link about products or services on related niche (ogads, jvzoo, peerfly, clickbank and so on)

I've found that posting current, trending, "viral" events is the best way to get engagement and interaction out of my followers. When one of my tweets goes viral I see a huge spike in followers. It's awesome to see organic growth. I think 15k is a little to small to try monetization at this point. Out of those 15k, realistically there might be 250-500 on their phones and even less currently searching through their twitter feed.
