Twitter going after spammers?

So I read an article on Mashable titled "Twitter Sues Five Spamming Sites", and listed TweetAttacks as one of the defendants as well as TweetAdder, TweetBuddy and a couple individuals. Has anyone experienced enhanced scrutiny from Twitter? Or is this just something Twitter is doing to make it look like they're making an attempt?

TweetAttacks is currently DOA and the TweetBuddy website is down right now. Twitter can't really reach the individual, so they're going after our tools. There's already several threads about it on BHW.
