Twitter follow back ratio

When I follow someones retweets as soon as they post from a big worldwide account I get 8 - 9%. But when I try the same with big accounts with mostly USA followers I get like 3%. Man these Americans don't follow at all. And when I unfollow old ones I loose about the same number. So I think it doesn't pay of to follow Americans. What is your follow back ratio?

In my niche I get on average 33%.
Sometimes I can get around 40%.
When its non-niche I'm around 23%.

Is that with fake profile or as a businesses/service?
