Twitter and this tinyurl thing

So I'm following and following and people are knocking down my door to follow me back and being new to this fucked up, shit-for-brains twitter world, I'm checking it out.
And I'm seeing a whole lot of spammers and scammers out there (like us here at BHW...hehe) but they are all using tinyurl for their links. What's up with that? Are they so lame that they don't know how to do redirects or cloak or anything more imaginative? I mean, even people that seem to be linking to a total white hat site of their own use tinyurl.
What's up with that???

Everyone is in the habit of using url shorteners to try to conserve character space on Twitter. After a while, you "think" in short urls. It's second nature.

Exactly. You have to conserve character space it is not good to have a long url as that leaves less room to put an ad copy in.

actually twitter is useful in my opinion, mostly because you can make good hook ups with other people who do what you do...just my 2cents,

You can shorten the url ahead of time with other services
