Used to stream a little while back, was pulling an average of 50 viewers per stream, sometimes with peaks of 100+. Honestly I think what drove my growth were these...
1. Am I being constant? It is very important to stream with a strict schedule and not just whenever you would like. People like to know when you are going to be live and when you will be live next. I streamed 5 days a week at the exact same time for a minimum of 3-4 hours sometimes up to 8+ hours if I was really enjoying myself.
2. What can I do better? After every stream I would ask myself this question... Could my audio levels be adjusted better to make it more enjoyable for the users? Could my gameplay be different, what style of gameplay do people like to watch? Could i get better graphics to make my stream more appealing?
3. MAKE PERSONAL CONNECTIONS! This is what I find by far one of the most important things. You NEED to make personal connections with anyone that stops by your stream. I would make it my personal goal EVERY stream to make personal connections with new users! I would do the following...
A) learn their name if they were comfortable sharing it. Calling a user by their real name rather than their user name is huge, it makes them feel like you are talking directly to them, not just their fake name.
B) Learn about there interests. I played video games when I streamed so it was easiest to ask them about things like games. For yourself... maybe ask them what styles of dances they like?
C) REMEMBER A and B! Sometimes what I would write down the people I met after my stream just to make sure I remembered. I had it down to the point were I could call 60-70% of my viewers by name, and talk with them about THEIR interests. I feel like that's why they kept coming back to my streams, because I made an effort to be interested in them rather than only myself.
Finally, just be entertaining, I cant even tell you the amount of streams I would have where I had 0 viewers. At that point I would just have fun and be myself.
I know it may be tempting to have the viewers list up and call them out in order to get them chatting, but just let them be. Its just like on BHW some people just like to lurk, so let them!
