So if you guys haven't heard yet, the new Wordpress 3.8 update is out, which I love. They have made the backend cleaner looking and it seems a little bit faster to me (unconfirmed).

They also released the Twenty Fourteen theme, which I'm not too sure about. People seem to be raving about it. It seems rather incomplete to me though. I can't get used to the left aligned thing with the huge gap on the right. I love what they've done with the search bar though. I love the featured images thing too. I'm knitpicking, I know. I could always do a bit of CSS tweaking, but I wish I didn't have to.

I agree with you that it looks a bit incomplete -- unprofessional.

Just 2 quick views:
If you see the full width template, there is still the vertical menu on the left! Why?

The footer area is completely unprofessional. It merges with the left vertical menu/left sidebar. Looks very odd! The vertical menu (left sidebar) and the footer has rows of child menus showing... they should have been rolled in and out type. (Don't remember the exact word for that -- P.S.: Collapsible menu). This is a huge no-no in the responsive/mobile version.

Then, the home page also looks unprofessional...

I wouldn't use the theme without doing massive modifications...

I am with you bro. I don't like it either.
Whatever we learned about Header, Sub Header the whole layout. It'll be a bit confusing for a reader.
There is just no flow from 1 thing to another. It's like everything is smacked right in front of you altogether.

I love the new dashboard look!

The new theme however? I dunno... it's years behind the popular themes you can buy! But that's economy for you :)

I think it had a lot of potential though. Maybe I'll do a Thematic version of how I'd like Twenty Fourteen to look, in my free time.

I have never used wordpress original themes and I won't use them now, because they always look unprofessional to me

They really have to keep the theme as basic as possible, but to be honest I'm no sure why anybody wouldn't use a different theme anyway.

There's tonnes out there.

thanks for news .

i had to update my sites now.

I agree with you. I don't like the menu on the left, but I rarely do on any website anyway. It's not a theme for a "personal blog" that's for sure. Feels very "corporate" to me. I like the navigation bar at the top. I would have to do a few css modifications to be satisfied with it. I rarely use the twenty themes anyway. I always end up using something else. I like themes that are very simplistic in nature.

have been using twenty thirteen theme in my site,,will check this new theme tomorrow!!!

If you have a lot of posts, you can actually create a nice effective magazine style website with this theme and just delete the attribution at the bottom and get rid of that powered by wordpress link. It doesn't even look like a free theme.

i like the theme. but it's way not neutral enough to be a default theme. + its dark.

I guess this is why I'm so bad at design, but I like the look of the new stock theme.

Looks a lot more interesting when compared with the usual stock themes.. I'm actually using this on one of the web 2.0s I have, while usually I'm insanely eager to get away from the themes they had in stock.

I personally love the theme, very beautiful. It has so much potential in my opinion. If people are looking for themes that help with CTR or easier to navigate there are plenty out there.

IMHO, there are way too many beautiful, premium WordPress templates out there to even keep "Twenty Fourteen" active for anything longer than 5 minutes after WordPress is installed.

It doesn't even fill my browser screen... White space ftl

That's my biggest issue with the thing. I thought something was wrong with my laptop at first. I think a full width layout would do wonders for the theme.
