[TUTORIAL] What Do Buyers Want? Make MORE $$$$

Well I have been flipping a lot through Flippa, and IM (MSN,Yahoo, Gtalk etc) and I've noticed that sites with the requirements below sell for a better price, some increase it by small, some by big it depends on the costumer.

Websites That Sell Something (E commerce)
People love to have websites to sell something, let's be honest, would you rather have a site that sells something or no? It can generate you more revenue, and they can have fun with the stuff you are selling, an Ebook I believe is totally fine for selling, so let's say your niche is ok Fitness , then you could write a book about what to eat for being more fit, how to get abs, and for IM niche you could write something about TOP MONEY MAKING SECRETS and etc, because selling an ebook will generate you much more cash.

Wordpress Site! (IMPORTANT!)
Wordpress is extremely easy to use, I remember when I just started with a site, I used blgger which I found complicated, someone recommended me Wordpress, gave it a try, and everything was so easy, easy tools, amazing plugins, easy to use, transfer is easy, EASIEST INSTALLATION EVER!
Buyers want Wordpress becuase of the above mentioned reasons, they can edit easily, add posts n etc.

With a Twitter Account (with followers!)
Twitter has gone crazy, people love to have Twitter accounts with followers in it, doesn't matter if you are following anyone, they just want "followers" for their Twitter account, Twitter is actually addictive to many people I believe, and they will be using it a lot, Just make some quick background using Photoshop, just logo of your site, if you really can't, just hire a guy for $5 to do it (Fiverr), and make tweets about your site, get it followers, and you are done with this part!

Clickbank
This is only if you are having your own written product(I highly recommend you writing your own product, this will help you a lot!) Then add it to Clickbank (Not sure if there is a fee! But Buyers want this a lot!)

Generate At least Some Money
Well this is using the Ebook you have written, go to the forum with the same niche as your product/site and make few good posts on the forum, than post that you are selling an ebook, give 1 free review of course , sell it for a lower price so u get more sales....

Mention the amount of sales you got easily with barely any work (if u got)

Great post, what's your take on blogs that generate mainly advertising revenue

Revenue source matters, but I had a PR 3 health blog, made over $150 selling links (took me bout 3 months) , and there were no other buyers for the links, I decided to sell it (it was earning few cents daily on adsense!) , and it went to $650

Is it worth more if you follow people?

I think after doing some research, it wouldn't matter, because on the other hand side you have a risk as well, if you have a small site with twitteer account following 10 people and having 3k followers, it's supsicious that you unfollowed all of them, use the unfollow tool only if u have a BIG site

The OP has covered it very well. Read it through. Then look for some of the Flipping courses on our Forum. If you can't find any, PM me. Go to Flippa and look at the freshly installed sites that have sold for a good price. Produce sth similar, ideally betetr! And last not least - take action!

It really seems that WP is preferred by most buyers in flippa. What do you think about MRR or clickbank ready sites? And what do you think is the best way to get started on flippa? selling low end WP blogs?

Anyway, I'm working in commercial web development through drupal and your point about Wordpress's ease of use being a selling point has me wondering...

If I can make the backend dead simple for the buyer to operate the site, would that satisfy buyers or is it the Wordpress familiarity that simply trumps any mention of drupal?

Or on the other side of the coin, can I possibly expect a premium for the ease of use created through drupal?

I'd love to get your take because it'll help judge how much time I should spend developing in the line I'm on, or if I should jump back on the wordpress bandwagon and get my themeing skills back up to par.

@johnwho, I suggest you to not sell sites with no traffic and revenue, they aren't selling good these days, just get it traffic and revenue, then sell it.

@robotrock, it is not a MUST that it should be Wordpress, but WP sites sell the best, but I also see non-wp sites being sold for a lot, so you might try it , make sure you make a reserve.

@Newbie, well some people are interested in paid, but I honestly never sold a site with unique theme, but you can just costumize a current theme, then choose the option "unique" for theme, as it is customized, but I highlly recommend to mention that it is customized.

I think the reason that WP is so popular with buyers on Flippa is due to it's ease of use and the fact that most people already know how to use it so there won't be a learning curve when taking over the site.

It might be worth testing out your version of Drupal in an auction to see what kind of response you get. You never know, people might take a liking to yours over Wordpress.

On the other side, it also might be possible that someone just sees the mention of Drupal and automatically assumes it will be too complicated for them. I guess the only way to find out for sure is to try it out on Flippa and see.

What I would recommend if you do decide to auction a site with your custom Drupal backend, is to make a video that walks them through the whole backend so that they can see exactly how it works before bidding. Just upload the video to your auction listing and all potential bidders can see it.

If by low end WP blogs you mean starter sites with no traffic or revenue, then I don't believe you will get much, if anything for them. At least not enough to cover your listing + feature fees on Flippa and make it worth your while.

It's not all that difficult to do a little work and at least get some traffic and revenue flowing into the site. Even if it's a little bit, it will still be much more enticing to buyers than a site that gets nothing.

J those are some good things to keep in mind! I should definitely take consideration when mentioning drupal, to always put it into a soft context so bidders don't see just the word 'drupal' and go 'afi' on me.

The idea I like the most is making a video walkthrough of the custom backend control panel. I'd imagine that it would reinforce the value and settle any drupal apprehensions.

Come to think of it, I should've thought of that and have been doing it all along... so I'm going to get that part of the development process set up and I appreciate you pointing this out.

I've seen video walkthroughs before in auctions so that's where I got the idea. From what I've always heard, the videos help a lot with getting a higher price for your sites since it makes buyers feel more comfortable. In your case with a custom backend, it's definitely important to include one I think.

It's a bit more expensive than your average ebook, but you also get access to the private site flipping forum they made and also a $20 Flippa credit when you buy the course. It's worth the price in my opinion seeing as I've made way more than what I spent on it with what I learned in the course.

Bryan and Thomas wrote that book, I've personally worked for Bryan before (I'v learnt lots from him) and I got the book, I have to say it's a really amazing book, they both know a lot and they know what they are doing, they spent a lot of effort in writing the book, giving tons of details out. I would recommend everyone who is new or already EXPERIENCED in site flipping to get a copy of it, simply a 10/10 book.
