Update - This is purely adsense profiteering based for me Hey guys, So I've been into YouTube ranking a lot recently. My best video in terms of time/money/views math - is a video which has gotten me £15 (~$27) per month - It's a Team Fortress 2 video, gets about 50 views per day and is ranked for every keyword to do with "TF2 Tips" / "Team Fortress 2 Tips" I've targeted. So, I decided to do a few ways on how YOU can get your videos ranking. 1) Title Optimization - Optimizing your title is extremely important, i suggest instead of an EM (exact match) going for broad keywords, as Youtube tends to let you rank for more keywords in turn then. When building your title, make sure it's 60 Characters or less (Try to use the full 60) - This means it'll rank fine in both YouTube & Google. Google's max title is 70 Characters, but 70 characters in YouTube on smaller displays doesn't fit the display whereas 60 does. 2) Description - In the description, I suggest using a format like the following: About the Video About the Channel "This is Video about:" (have related keywords underneath this, I suggest having 5 - 8 related keywords as any more tends to be classed as keyword stuffing, use less if your description is short) Social Network Links 3) Engagement - YouTube obviously massively favours engagement, I use Enhance Views on my videos to gain comments and likes ontop of my Tube Toolbox subscription which gains real views, comments and likes (as well as a few dislikes/hate comments about you being a spammer, so any video you use it on make sure to have approval for comments before using it). Enabling video responses helps a LOT! See if you can't add a video response from another account or 2 to your video, I've seen drastic changes from having 5 responses with "RE: your video title" videos. 4) Backlinks - Using backlinks to increase your views is a great tool, it takes around 2 months for backlinks to take effect as they're more for video optimization from within Google - Google's a great way to gain views and optimizing your video for both the YouTube and Google SERPs means you get the both of best worlds. My video has 2,000 views from Google searches according to the analytics, now lets take that in to consideration, I built links 1 Month ago and got 1,500 views from Google in the last month - 1,500 / 4 = 375 / 7 = 53 Views / Day - My video is currently at 50 views a day in Analytics as previous to link building I was on around 15 views per month. 5) Transcription - Every word that is said in your video is TRANSCRIBED - This means if you mention your keyword 3 times (let's say "dog training") then in the transcription will have the keyword "dog training" 3 times - This effects both YouTube and Google ranking as it's converted to XML data and read by both crawlers. Theoretically you can do keyword stuffing in video speech, I suggest saying your keyword/s 2 times per 1 minute of the video - This allows for nice keyword density but not stuffing. Make sure you have a clear microphone, speak clearly and don't talk fast! speak slowly, the transcriber will be able to understand it better if you do. You can also go inside the video editor and change the transcription to whatever you want, which btw is a great black hat Yt ranking method 6) Social Shares - Having social engagement on top of YouTube engagement (this is Facebook Likes & Shares - Tweets etc..) adds a huge amount of potential traffic from the social shares and Google's bot takes it into consideration as social engagement as always been a huge part of an SEO campaign. 7) Offsite Sharing - Having embeds of the video from multiple sources also counts as "engagement" on the site, and counts towards a backlink to your video - Sharing your video on as many sites, forums and blogs as you can allows for a lot of engagement and embedding is a great way to do this. I have a blog network and any related niches on my blogs i always embed the video into a post and add a small 100 word article content behind it to give it some more authority - This seems to work very well, though I haven't got enough data to test it properly yet, I'll be testing it more soon. 8) Channel Authority - Having a good subscriber base and an optimized channel helps your YouTube rankings sky rocket, if you search for pretty much any gaming keyword I Guarantee the 1st 10 videos will have channels with a minimum of 2,000 subscribers. Using tube toolbox and other softwares to gain real subscribers is a great way to gain channel authority. Having your channel on as many "Other Channel" boxes as possible is another great way to build channel authority, also having a link to your channel in other channel's videos is another great way, so if you run a YouTube network make sure to link your channels together. 9) Tags - I've put tags last for a reason, YouTube doesn't seem to actually use them nearly as much as they did - It's a lot like Google's meta keyword stopping, you can still rank extremely high without tags but having them is just an added bonus, I prefer having the related keywords in the description as that has a lot more influence then the Tags.
