First you need to decide what kind of site it is you're posting it on. See if they can give you sample so you can at least deduce if the link is risky or what the metrics are like

A few things I have learned:
1) Get samples of the articles. You want the best writing you can get.
2) Make sure that the niche fits the website topic.
3) Try not to buy from a reseller
4) know the difference between backlinks and PBN links
