Please forgive my newbishness, I am learning.
You use scrapebox to gather your targeted email list. So, this replaces the opt in techniques described in the original post, right?
When you send your first message to this list, would you include the affiliate link, or would you try to send something free to avoid spam reporting?
My main concern with this technique is the emails would be unsolicited and therefore you may get a lot of people flagging for spam. Anyone with experience using these lists that can give some insight on how to use this type of list best?

If you mail with this method, make sure they are formatted to be can spam compliant AND your first email needs to be something along the lines of "would you like to opt-in". only re email those that opt-in legitimately.

As it was said above, can spam specifically prohibits mailing to scraped emails even if you have an unsubscribe link and a physical mailing address.

This method has good ideas but it's not complete.. Most forums disable a members list and you'll pull a lot of emails that will get you spammed such as admin emails. Unless you really scrub your list this method is a 1 way ticket to SpamTown.
I still think there's value in the ideology though - you just have to tweak it.
