Tutanota or Protonmail?

Hi, anyone has any experience in using Tutanota or Protonmail instead of gmail?

I don't trust outlook and gmail anymore. I am thinking to switch to tutanota/protonmail.

Also, another thing on business email addresses, the host that is hosting your email, can see the emails, right?

Are you both using the paid version of protonmail?

And how do you use and manage your business emails? I mean separate email provider via hosting? Can they see your emails? Like suppose hosting is with wpxhosting, so your business email is hosted with wpxhosting and it is possible that they can read your private business emails?

I use it for personal emails. If I set up a business I always have a separate email for it.

Example: [email protected]

No, you didnt understand what I tried to say. Suppose this is your site - www.mysite.com where you do business and you talk and deal with your clients at [email protected]. And mysite.com is hosted @wpxhosting.com and when you receive your emails, can the people at wpxhosting see those emails?

Also, can you setup a business email with protonmail using your site address OR @protonmail.com will still be there even when you buy business plan?

i use protonmail, it's great.

free version is fine. if you want to use a custom domain, you can upgrade to premium ($4 or euro/month). they do a bulk package for multiple domains, too.

well worth it for keeping google out of your emails.

if you store your emails at your web host, they will be on their servers. you'd have to check their terms to see if they have access to them or if they encrypted. if you care about security, switch to protonmail.

I see no problem in protonmail except the fact I fear that they only launched in 2013 and many new projects get closed down after some years. Remember Newton mail? Also, telltale a famous game developing company that is behind the walking dead game is shutting down soon. I just fear of protonmail getting shut down which I dont want after seeing the features that they have.

sure. newton was an email app and not a provider so not quite the same thing.

5 years is fairly established, and i would always recommend backing up email in case any service goes down. you'd probably also get a warning about it, too. just my opinion, but i'm very happy with the service.

+ Tutanota, i used it for my personal email. i never use protonmail, honestly i never hear it before read your thread, so i cant mention whats better. But from my first impression i prefer use tutanota for more lighter and cheaper.

I use both, have paid Tutanota as I have 5 emails on there, but happy with both.

I use them for buying services etc mainly, so I can keep track on anyone who potentially is selling email addresses.

For my main businesses I use business emails through the companies.

I personally find Protonmail better, and even they cannot read your emails, because they're encrypted (unlike with common services like Gmail). But own mail server is ideal.

Yes, we have legit businesses so we also use business emails, through the hosting companies.
