[TUT] Make Amazon Sites That Convert

When you say social metrics, how do you get it done?

I do tons of bookmarks and I have a comment plugin that comments on my own site at random intervals. I do likes, tweets, pins, and +1s for more competitive keywords too.

Nowadays, On Google SERPS, I am not seeing Squidoo results on the first few pages.... so I wonder how people earn from squidoo/hubpages. Is it social? from commenting on other people's lenses, etc????
This sucks! I can't multi-quote reply as I am triggering spam filters :hitwithro

I still see squidoo lenses rank for a lot of long tails but not for the higher competition terms anymore. For people with long tail strategies they're still a strong platform.

Hubpages haven't ranked well since Panda 1.0 but that used to be a goldmine. I don't think many people are making money there anymore. All of their "income testimonials" are from last year.

hi BHG i am all new to this built a website for dog toys, on google front page for couple of keywords, after reading this site have realised i wont make a penny really i was set up to sell dog toys from amazon its not worth the effort really with the commision being so low.

i just got all excited with building my first site, will now have to start again but i have learned a lot building it on wordpress,

have to now go for high priced products. will keep my first site though,
just for all the hard work and what i have learned in setting it up, i get carried away and excited with the whole idea.

Hey pauly,

Where in Gods Country are you from?.

Anyway I would certainly not bin that site. The one thing Amazon is good at is up-selling. So in the one hand the commission is comparable low bu,t on the other hand people using Amazon often fill there baskets up with more than one thing to which you receive commission on basket total.

An example I can give is that I used to own an ice cream recipe site. As well as recipes on there. It also naturally promoted ice cream makers. Although these averaged in the region of ~$10 to $40 I did have a few people buying ice cream makers costing more than $1000 believe it or not and many items non related to food let alone ice cream.
So there's a niche gone lol, So although a person may end up on Amazon via buying a Dogs squeeky ball there can sometimes be many high end purchases made that have nothing to do with Dogs. Just get them onto Amazon and let the magic happen!.

Good luck.

Low price items are great for Amazon for a few reasons:

1) High conversion rates. People do a ton of research before buying anything that is high priced so the conversion rates are much lower. If an item is less than $20 they'll buy it without too much thought.

2) Add-ons. If you're selling dog toys Amazon will suggest some collars, a sweater, and maybe a new dog crate or dog bed too.

3) Higher commissions. You'll be pushing more product so your commission rate on your Amazon account will go up.

You want to promote a mix of low price and high price items. You also want to diversify your income across many sites so build a new site too, but don't give up on what you've already built. Most micro niche sites make less than $100 a month so you'll need to build a lot before you get good income coming in.

How did you do with adsplugin to have 3 items side to side ? (if that's what was used)
Adsplugin links are redirect, did you change this ?

Thanks.

With adsplugin there is an option "Max item per post." I set that to 3. Then I make sure the width of the "Ads Block" is one third the width of my post area width.

I asked Amazon Affiliate support to look at one of my sites with adsplugin to make sure it complied with their new TOS and they said it was fine so I didn't change the redirection.

Oh I see, thanks.

I do facebook, tweets, pins, +1s for the few authority sites I have that have survived the Pandas and Penguin.

For my MNS I do a massive (staggered) bookmarking blast hitting all the top bookmarking sites and a ton of the little ones as well. I go for low competition terms with my MNS so likes, etc aren't usually necessary.

what kind of comments do you put on your site?

Just generic comments, the same comments you would use to spam sites in scrapebox.

Since first I saw you in this forum I was waiting for this post. Amazing/Simple post as I just expected. We have really different POVs but I was able to get 1 tip or two ;) . Thanks & +Rep

Some really good info in here, thanks LB.

I think anyone who has found LBrowns tutorial useful might consider ordering from her Amazon EMDs

as a way of saying thanks

When you choose these keywords can the competition be high ?

Or does it have to be medium or low ?

1. Been trying to figure out how to SEO an amazon affiliate site. Assuming you have a couple of affiliate on a page then Penguin would lower your SERP result. So do you resolve this by limiting the number of amazon affiliate link on one page ? If you are not in a position to provide any concrete secret. Please give some hints as to what to search. Thkx

2. Is it a good idea to use many pages on one domain to save cost or spread it out just in case one get messed up by amazon or penguin ?

Thanks.

1. I limit my links to Amazon to 4 or less and don't have a problem ranking post Penguin. There's no hints or secrets beyond what I've written in this thread. Give the Google algorithm what it wants and you'll rank; give the visitor what they want and you'll make bank.

2. I'm building only MNS these days thanks to Penguin. Losing a large authority site to an algorithm update is not cost effective.

Do you mean the Adwords comeptition? High is best but sometimes medium is good too.
