Turn on a computer from distance?

So i have 3 computers working here, about 97% automated. They require a bit of manual intervention to ensure everything runs smoothly.

If i was to leave the house for a few days, i would need a way to connect to any of the computers remotely. I can use anydesk or teamviewer or any of these programs to do it.

But the problem is, lets say electeicity goes down for 3 seconds. The computers will shut down. I wont be able to connect, i wont be able to do anything. And theres no one i can give the keys to and call to have them come in and turn them on for me.

So...

Is there any way to turn on a computer from a distance? Maybe put in some sort of auto-start which will (try to) turn them on every 6 hours. Then if a computer is already on, nothing happens. But if its off, it will turn on by itself.

Any ideas?

I think you can allow from the BIOS LAN boot - this way when you can try to connect the PC it will boot. Google it..

If the electricity goes down for only 3 seconds you can buy a Power tree UPS and your PC will never shut down.

There is an app and power switch you can get on ali express.
i will try find the name of it i have used it you can monitor power usage and do all sorts of stuff.

To precent unexpected shutting down you can use UPS - uninterruptible power supply. It will keep your computer up for 50 or even more minutes, depends on the model!

I have this one in my office. Works good. PC never shuts down.
No idea how much it costs.

Enable LAN boot from the BIOS settings and use this Android app called Wake On LAN. Perfect for turning on your computer/laptop remotely.

TBH I did not had a huge budget on UPS so after reading some reviews bought this on Amazon-

APC UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector with USB Charger, 600VA, APC Back-UPS (BE600M1)

It can last around 20-30min, so works perfect if there are a short power outage.

hey buddy.

there are few ideas from me.
1. try to have sine wave electricity inverter backup, since sine wave inverters are only made for computers.
from google- Pure Sine Wave inverters (also called True Sine Wave) are more suited for sensitive electrical or electronic items such as laptop computers, stereos, laser printers,

2. do setting on the bios page when the computer starts by fressing the f8/f12/delete button multiple times when the computer starts. put setting whenever the computer gets electricity automatically start and boot os.
remove any password if you have any on any user account so you will directly load onto the desktop screen.
Put anydesk into the startup items list so that it auto loads up when computer start and boots.you can also put bat command to run any specific program.
congrats you can connect anytime as long as there is an elecricity power.

Maybe try throwing some burned eggs into the power switch, from a distance. Not sure about the range though.

Yeah, like others have mentioned, you will need an inverter to keep your machines going even when the power is off. I have not really been able to use the LAN boot option successfully till date, but that may be just me. Try that out too.

This is also a good reason why people rent servers instead of hosting their own. Network speed being the other reason.

Definitely just buy a UPS. Will also keep your power supply safe.

As others have said, get a good UPS that will prevent power out when power goes down. Then edit the BIOS and make sure computers have the setting to turn on when power restored. Some computers have BIOS that will sense when power is lost, and when it comes back will automatically turn themselves back on.

So just to remove this thread from my bookmarks...

I never solved this in figuring out how to turn on a computer from a distance. It's solvable, I just didn't get around to it. But it doesn't matter because...

The main reason I needed this was if I'm away from home and there's a power outage. My computers shut down and stay off, and my botting stops.

I did a 2-part solution:

1) Got a UPS for each computer to prevent a shutdown if a power outage is only for a few seconds/minutes.
2) I enabled in the BIOS of each computer the option -> "Restore on ac power loss"

So if a power outage is short, the UPS will keep things spinning. And if it's long, the BIOS will auto-restart the computers when they get power again.

This should, theoretically, solve my problem 100%.

But I can't foresee every possible fuck up that could occur. So if I run into a new problem or if for any reason I have a need, I'll revisit this thread and figure out how to turn on a PC from a distance.

Yep, I meant cheap dedicated servers that have uninterruptible power supply and reserved internet bandwidth. Home server is not a good idea for business.
