Tumblr dropped subdomains?

It looks like Tumblr consolidated many of its tumblrs onto www.tumblr.com recently. Each tumblr used to be on its own subdomain (i.e. xxx.tumblr.com), but now a lot of them appear as www.tumblr.com/xxx

Anyone know the criteria they're using for a tumblr blog to "keep" its own subdomain?

if your post is on the main domain this is a huge plus, its much more powerful than a no authority subdomain on their root.

It could be an older blog thing, but are you sure it's not a privacy setting thing?
Members who set their blogs to viewable only by users logged into Tumblr do not show up under username.tumblr.com.
Their blogs automatically redirect to tumblr.com/username.

wild move by Tumblr Sounds like theyre streamlining but no clue on the subdomain criteria maybe post popularity or activity Anyone got the tea

Tumblrs cleaning up URLs Might be phasing out subdomains for newer blogs No clear pattern yet but definitely a shift happening
