Tumblr backlink does not work?

Just registered an expired tumblr blog and tried placing a backlink to my site using the video of @BassTrackerBoats

However, tumblr automatically changes the href to a simple text field.

Maybe I did something wrong, but already tried different things and nothing seems to work. Any Ideas?

Ok I was just dumb. The problem was, I did not confirm my email

Quite interesting.... Created a second expired tumblr account, instantly confirmed my email and when I tried to place a backlink had the exact same problem. Then I waited for about an hour, did some reblogging, logged in and out and bam suddenly it worked. Not sure why, but maybe tumblr doesn't want you to place a link first thing when you create an account on an expired domain?

Yeah, it's probably there to prevent spam. So, try to act natural at first, be a normal user
